Self-care for Grief
Grief can be an exhausting, full-body experience that completely upends your world. In the wake of profound loss, practicing self-care is not the first thing you are thinking of nor is it about fixing the pain or moving on—it is simply about treating your broken heart with the utmost gentleness. It means giving yourself permission to breathe, to rest when your body is weary, and to seek out tiny pockets of peace. Tending to your own physical and emotional needs is a vital part of finding the quiet strength needed to navigate the darkness and carry your loved one’s light forward with you.
If you are in immediate danger or need urgent medical attention, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
If you are experiencing an overwhelming emotional crisis, panic, or a night that feels too heavy to carry alone, please reach out to these free, confidential resources. You do not have to go through this moment by yourself.
